A Fall Senior Session on back country roads,

   Meet Samantha, A L'Anse Creuse High School Senior, Class of 2017.
   But that's just the basics.
   When I met with her and her mom I instantly adored both of them and quickly learned that Samantha was this little creative spirit underneath all of that fabulous, curly long brown hair! She not only acted in plays she also sang. I THEN learned that she didn't just sing, she sang AND wrote, played, and composed her own songs.
   I'm pretty sure that's when my inner 18 year old self got all excited and knew we had to do something really special and custom for her session.
   A local artist provided me with vintage music sheets that I hung up in the middle of our forest here behind the studio. We embraced the dark beauty both I and Samantha appreciate for that set before we took off and did a lighter look, surrounded by all the Fall colors on the country back roads.
   After that we took a short hike out to under a bridge that used to be an old railroad track that went over the river. I used to go here with my Grandpa and Mom all the time, and my grandpa used to dare us to walk out on to the rotting tracks.... I never would have thought I would be going back with a beautiful young artist for her Senior Pictures. She had a vision in her head and I think this location captured it beautifully. What you can't see is the super steep hill we were on and how she had to slide down loose rocks in heels overlooking a drop off, but... again, totally worth it, and adventure always makes things better.
   We had such an amazing time with her and her family... I'm sad the whole experience with them is over, but I'm really proud and honored to be a part of this time that resulted in so much beauty, this time that marks the first steps to an amazing future for her and all she's about to accomplish!

Unique and Edgy Senior shoot with Young Teen Artist

A Senior photoshoot with a High School Artist.

   As a teenager I used Art as a way to express myself. A little bit of me was in the graphite portraits I did, the watercolors I attempted, and the poems I released.
   Art is still a way for me to express myself and a lot of the time ithelps me in ways I’m too closed off to understand at the time. It’s usually not until AFTER I finish a piece that I realize what I was feeling and how I was longing to get it out. Funny how your subconscious mind can do that for you.
   I feel like Logan and I connect in that way. She didn’t have many requests for her Senior Session, just that she wanted an image of her with pants on her hands in front of her face. And graffiti. Mom had a few other ideas that we tied in to everything as well.
   The second portion of our shoot we went to an underpass where some young kids go to dabble with spray paint and cause a little bit of trouble. I watch as Logan unfolded in to this super model I had no idea was hiding inside of her.
   By the time we got to our last outfit in the studio I was throwing paint at her body with a brush and splattering her face ever so carefully. This is where I saw he personality explode. She was in her element. We both were. And that’s when magic happens. Take a Look-

Gorgeous, Fun, Free, Dramatic Senior Session shot in Lexington, Michigan

   Photographing Mackenzie’s Senior Portraits was more like going on a fun road trip then “working.” 
  We started at the studio and took a few beautiful shots outdoors, under the willow, in the fern garden… we kept it very natural.
   Next we drove down the road for about a minute and stopped at a street corner. Nothing fancy- just a beautiful girl playing in the flowers, laying in the field. Simplistic and gorgeous.
   We carried on North to Lexington, Michigan where we stopped at a little coffee house and crabbed a couple of drinks while Mom did a little extra shopping, walking away with tasty wine and fresh local bread. We took a few shots in and around there and then scooted up the coast to a hidden, extremely rugged spot on the lake.
   We crawled and splashed around a crumbling boat dock as the sun set. It was literally, no pun intended, picture perfect. Check it out for yourself and go on this beautiful road trip with us!
