Family Session at Springbank Park in London
Mommy and Me, Daddy and I, Maternity, Family,
and Big Brother Photoshoot all in 1!
11 years old and I knew no one where I had just moved to, except for the girl who rode her bike through my neighborhood. It seemed like every summer after that we would accidentally meet up and ride through the neighborhood at least once together.
15 years old and we were at the beach every single day that summer. Almost every night we would have a sleep over. My bike ride friend had quickly became my best friend, and we went through all the typical growing up stuff together- boys, crappy boys, dances, bad dancing, shopping, the first time house party, driving, and laughing way into the night. She had this outer tough shell that was hilariously funny because when you actually knew her she would laugh at anything and was that friend you could count on, for years.
16 years later and that same girl is now an amazing, caring mother of (soon to be) 2 kids and has a kind man by her side to take the adventure with. She’s one of those cool moms I love- she takes it seriously, but she knows life can’t be that serious, which is turning her son (and I’m sure her daughter too) into the smartest, most caring, truly unique little individual.
She hopped the border when she got older and moved to Canada, so that gives me the perfect excuse to explore new areas when we go visit her! This time she took us to Springbank Park, which is huge, this is only a little slice of it, but what’s special about it is the last shot of our night was in the same exact spot where we shot the last shot of the night at their FIRST maternity session.

When I really think about it, I've known Jen for 10 years. Wow! It all started because in high school her sister had the most rockin' hair and I had to know where to she went to get it cut.
After never getting what I asked for elsewhere, I decided to try out Jen and I have NEVER even thought about looking back. She is an artist with scissors.
When I started getting more custom with all of my shoots I decided to add a Hair and Makeup Artist to my team, and that choice was obvious. Boom, Jen jumped on board and now we're working on several different projects together!
But I'm not here to talk about me... I want to share with you how we got here, to this session!
(Can we just take a moment to talk about how STUNNING they both look above!)
Over time I've gotten to know her family too. They were actually some of the first clients that believed in me when I first started AJBC Photography. During our first session their son was still all wobbly while running around. Fast forward to now and the kids were like little models!
(and let's take another moment to talk about how cute these kids are!!)
If you're wondering where the scene came from, it all developed right in Jen's head. One day she got ahold of me with this "dark" but pretty vision of shooting at night with lights.
I took that vision and added in some smoke, pops of blue, and we were both pretty excited about it. So excited that Jen actually painted her living room to match. haha!
I'm so lucky to have Jen as a friend, and an amazing hairdresser for myself, and a fabulous team member to work with!! haha Her family is ridiculously lucky to have her as such a smokin hot wife (yeah, I said it) and such an involved mom. But she's pretty lucky to have these cuties too, and I'm SO happy I was able to bring her vision to life with her and capture her and her family in such a unique way.

Port Huron Family Photographer- AJBC Photography
Right in the heart of Downtown Port Huron, Michigan in one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever seen (The Exquisite Corpse) awaits a family. They order their coffee and pay at the counter. Stripping jackets and getting cozy they pile in behind the large table and open up their usual reading material of comics and art.
And then all I simply do is step in and capture that love and lifestyle they so beautifully live.
I don't do many lifestyle sessions. I think it's because not a lot of people think of them as an option. The whole feel of "from the outside looking in" is a little foreign to traditional portraiture but I'm going to be SURE to do it again, and again, very, very soon.
In my opinion, it truly captures who you are. No who you wish to be, but who you so truthfully and honestly are, and that's awesome because maybe you don't know what that looks like from the outside. Or.... it may change one day and you'll want to remember what it felt like to live like this, forever.
This session was a breath of fresh air. It was SO easy going, so truly enjoyable.
It also helps that Bre is the kindest woman you'll probably ever meet and Josh is the raw and original talent behind As Fall Leaves. Then there is Mason. This boy is the sweetest, most worldy little guy I've ever met and I could totally hang out with him and just chat away.
Just to switch things up a bit we finished up our coffee and headed down to the newly built River Walk. I must say- Blue Water Area- bravo. This area right by the St. Clair River is gorgeous and true to it's history. Canada makes a nice looking backdrop back there too. ;)
