Senior embraces care free, boho chic style for photoshoot

   As a photographer it is clear my goal is to always capture the essence of someone’s personality and style thru photographs! Delaney's senior session perfectly describes her. Warm, fun, fashionable, adventurous and of course, drop dead gorgeous.
   The moment she arrived was the start of a stunning evening. Once we finished up with hair and make up we hopped in the car and drove down the backgrounds until we found a ditch…YES that's correct- she OWNED that ditch. There is nothing more fun than taking something as unnoticed as a ditch and throwing in fierce Delaney to perfect this grunge senior look.

   Outfit two, here we come. Hopped back in the car chasing the sunset.. Delaney got dolled up in her fun cream lace dress…with heels? Hell no!  She rocked it with some cowgirl boots! You would think cowgirl boots you’re getting down and dirty but she was the total opposite! She had this warm country glow just radiating! We found an old church with peeling pant which was the perfect balance of rustic & glam!

   We made one last stop, down a tiny trail in the woods we found a crumbling stone wall and hidden behind it was a small creek! It was a chilly fall evening and Delaney had no fear getting right into the water! I didn’t even have to tell her what to do, her fun free spirit just took over… from playful twirling and dancing to modelesque posing.

   I’m no chemist but I do know her style mixed with her personality was fire. From sassy and fierce to bubbly and playful, she nailed every look.

Anchor Bay Senior Photographer- Photo Shoot

Outdoor, Natural Beauty Shoot

   Anchor Bay High School is a long ways from our little town of Burtchvillr, but Jessica still made the drive to get photographed by us at AJBC Photography! Thank goodness because I would be jealous of any other photographer that got to capture those mysterious eyes! You’ll see what I mean when you scroll down.
   When Jessica was planning her Senior Photoshoot with us in the studio she just kept saying the word “golden.” She wanted her Senior Portraits to be warm, full of sunshine. Who doesn’t love that look? So we scheduled the 4 outfit photoshoot for later in the day, when we would catch that golden hour.
   We started by showing off her creative side and all of her talents. Not only did she come with her own make up done (totally flawless) she also draws, does photography (she even booked a few of her own Senior Shoots this year) and is musically gifted. Seriously... share some of those talents!
   Next... to the bean field! And a ditch... Yes, you read both of those right. Magic, I know. This field was just a visual replica of the yellow brick road. We actually referred to it as the yellow bean road. It’s so refreshing having open minded people like Jessica and her mom create with us! They totally embraced this look and the adventure that goes with it... barefoot, in a dress, on the dirt backroads, in front of a farmer’s bean field, or crawling 3 feet down into a muddy ditch because you know that color and her blonde hair and her perfect fair skin is just going to harmonize beautifully together. God, I love the beauty in the unexpected!
   Next we snuck in to the back of an apple orchard, parking behind trees off the side of a dusty road, to hide from the crowds and do our own things. The sun just wrapped around Jessica as she sat soaking up the rays. We fanned out her hair for some shots and then... those eyes. Seriously unbelievable! It’s moments like these us photographers have to peel ourselves away from the camera and admit there’s more to do, but you really don’t want to- you just want to keep photographing!!
   Lastly we drove to the shores of Lake Huron in Lexington to watch the sun sink behind the trees and reflect off the calm water. Jessica gracefully balanced on big rocks, danced in the sand, and went from this sweet young girl to this fashion model all within this one photoshoot.

Her sweet smile when she laughed reminded you she was still just a young girl in school. Those eyes and that mature attitude reminded you she wasn’t far away from being an adult either. And that’s what these Senior Experiences are all about.
   Capture the beauty of both worlds in a magical way while they're still here.

A Modern Engagement Session in Port Huron, MI

Celebrating the future Mr. and Mrs.
with a photoshoot

A young couple, their pup, and 1 hidden trail

   Bridget and I had been planning the visual journey we would take for her wedding for quite a few months before I ever got to meet Russell. Little did I know they also had a secret child they didn't tell me about that I would be meeting the day of their engagement shoot - Zelda! 
   Geometric shapes was the theme for their wedding, but they also love the outdoors, so I took them to the Blue Water River Walk in Downtown Port Huron. It was the perfect mix of both. The tunnel which created some stunning angles and shapes with the highlights and shadows, and then the nature areas that are fairly new to the area.
   We basically just went on a casual walk, stopping and grabbing fun shots when we saw something that caught our eye. When I say the process is natural and fun, I mean it, so stop being so nervous, guys!
   I LOVE couples that I don't have to direct, that I don't have to explain what it looks like to like each other. Sure... I can help you a little but I can't MAKE you be ridiculously adorable with each other if you just aren't, and Russell and Bridget were pretty stinkin' cute with each other so that worked out nicely! And Zelda, oh my goodness, what a good girl!
   Since we were photographing their wedding (one of the last two for this year, and I'm currently not booking more- heads up!) Bridget was unsure about getting engagement photos as well, but I told her, you're going to be happy that you have beautiful portraits of the two of you together, natural, the way you are every day, not in fancy wedding attire. I am SO glad they did this! Their Wedding portraits are gorgeous too (hopefully you guys will see those soon!) but these show off their personality and tell their story on an every day level, which I love.
   So now, let's go on a visual journey of what they looked like right before they said I Do!

Forest Fairy Photoshoot

Whimsical Beauty tucked away in the forest

   Barefoot and beautiful, walking through the crunched up Fall leaves and the dried Spring mud. It’s a whimsical, natural type of beauty we’re about to capture.
   Next on Pointe and running with tule, Kayla creates art through her movement and dance. Watching her flow, unplanned choreography is like watching water flow.
   The whole shoot reminds you of a stunning little forest fairy hopping around the forest ground. The trees folded to make perfect tunnels and the road turning up the hill made for a more modern version.

   I love shoots like these… natural, gorgeous, a bit over the top! Take this experience to celebrate yourself with flowers in your hair, jumping off rocks, dancing in the middle of the road.

   Kayla is lucky enough to own her own company where she literally gets to be a fairytale princess every day… no… really…. you can have Cinderella come to your birthday party and secretly, it’s Kayla, but ssshhh, don’t tell anyone. How fun of a life is that!? She's also a professional Dancer. This was to be a mature yet innocent and wondrous blend of both of those worlds- truly reflecting who she is.
