Guy Senior Photoshoot on the
shores of Lexington and in the forest of Port Huron

Marysville Senior Photographer

senior photoshoot in abadoned building.jpg

There was a time when I considered not photographing Senior guys anymore, just focusing on the girl Seniors. Girls always seemed more excited and more involved when it came to their shoot. I wanted to create images for people who appreciated them, and guys always said they never cared. That was until a few years ago when I photographed a Senior guy with the same old story- who’s mom had called and told me her son didn’t care at all about getting his portraits taken, but it was important to her.
Like any shoot I ever do, it’s my main priority, I’m there to create something memorable and impacting for not only those being photographed but those viewing the photos too. And that’s what I did with that shoot, for mom, and for him, regardless of what he told me. I also made sure to really take into consideration this Senior’s style, what he was into, who he was, and how he envisioned these, even though he sad he didn’t care.
After seeing his portraits for the first time it was really obvious that wasn’t true. He was so proud of himself and loved each and every image. He just kept commenting on how good he looked and how great the shoot was. That’s when I realized- guys can say and act however they want about this whole process, but just like girls, just like anyone, they want to feel good about themselves, they want to show off what they’ve worked really hard for, and they want to be celebrated in their last year of high school!

Thank god I didn’t stop photographing guy Seniors, because if I had, I would have missed out on the opportunity to photograph this handsome guy! Dylan never expressed to us that he didn't care about his shoot, he was the total opposite, he would smile and agree to almost anything. His mom and sister were also a huge part of the shoot, which was so cute to watch them all together
Dylan is the true definition of a charming guy. He’s a little quiet, he’s got the cutest little smirk, and I think he might even have the tiniest of southern accents some how. His outfits stayed true to his style- chic and simple, but not in a bad way. Some guys just don’t need all of that. He loves the outdoors so we hit up every look we could- woods, water, city, country back roads with an abandoned house. His smile photographed great, but when he rocked that serious face I’m sure young girls hearts were and are still melting.

I’m glad I never trusted those other guys when they said they didn’t care about their Senior Portraits. We’ll continue to photograph guys here just to prove them all wrong- that we can and we will make you swoon over your own pictures and be damn proud of yourself when you’re done with your shoot with us. Because whether these guys like it or not, we all need a reminder of all that we have to offer, and portraits are a powerful way of visually expressing that.

Port Huron Northern Downtown Senior Photoshoot

Senior Photoshoot shows off

strong yet feminine athletic side
along with sweet and fashionista side

at Port Huron Northern and downtown Port Huron.

I like a girl who can pull off 4 different looks in the same day. It tells a lot about your personality and shows diversity.
Allie started out preppy and cute with her polo and glasses, switched it up to gorgeous in a cream dress floating in the water, got a little sassy with her grungy downtown look, and then really rocked it for her sports look.
I’m going to be honest- I love shooting portraits that feel model / fashion like. It’s a little moody, a little edgy, it’s fresh. I never find Sports photography fits into that… but I LOVED Allie’s sports look. This photoshoot totally changed my mind about that! She still looks feminine but in a very strong way. Her curls don’t get in the way of her boldness.
Picture this. We were also working against an over crowded, badly lit gym. I’m talking 20 girls whipping volleyballs at our heads, no windows, ugly yellow lights. But we busted out some off camera flash and that just gives it this gritty, impactful, commercial look. She just rocked it.
Strong girls make me happy and when you can jump over hurdles as high as my chest and do a push up on 2 basketballs, well, that falls into the category of strong and bold with me.
  You go girl.
So you guys need to scroll down and see all of what I’m talking about!

Mickey Mouse style Birthday Party Portraits

Young Family Session by Port Huron Photographer

1 year photoshoot with watermelon michigan child photographer.jpg

Mickey Mouse ears and balloons every where! My baby book and playing with Mommy and Daddy. And to top it off- watermelon slices bigger than my head!
I’m sure these were William’s thoughts the day of his One Year shoot!! I mean, it sounds like a dream day for any little boy turning the big O-N-E!
We drove out to Goodells Park early in the morning to set up on a cute, old farm house front porch. Only to find the biggest fair of our area was happening- the 4H Fair!   I’ll skip the long version, but to sum it up we drove the 30 mins unknowingly, didn’t have enough cash to pay the entry fee, scrounged up money from our purses and vehicle, rehearsed my sob story, and a very, very nice gentlemen let us into the park for $14, instead of the $40 it should have cost. Thank goodness for good people in this world!
Once we FINALLY got in the often barren park was FULL of campers, rides, and FARM ANIMALS!
We had such a nice morning with this little adorable family of 3! We did family portraits, couple portraits and then it was William's time to shine! We busted out the Mickey Mouse ears while he played with balloons and ended the shoot with juicy, huge pieces of watermelon. His little hands and mouth were determined to take it all on and it ended in the stickiest, wettest, cutest mess you’ve ever seen.
   Take a look!
Oh, and of course afterwards we went a looked at all the cute farm animals, because, honestly, who could resist?!
