I've never seen anything like the Civic Garden Complex in London Ontario before. Sure, I've been to nice parks, I've seen nice trees... We've been to places you have to pay to get in. But never have I stumbled upon a park open to the public that was so gorgeous, so huge, so unique.
I was lucky enough to also have a beautiful, fun, easy going family to photograph in this park too. Perfect way to spend an afternoon outside in the sun, camera in hand.

If just for a moment, take a step back, away from your every day life, and envision yourself living a fairytale, being a princess.... and then realize, it's not as far away as Disney, or magic.... It's simply how you choose to see yourself, and the world.
Meet the modern day Repunzel. She's got golden flowing locks, she's flawless, the only thing that's missing is the tower and prince charming.
I wanted to take a classic story and put a twist on it. I also wanted to play around with photoshop, which I did by adding in layers and layers of hair for our opening shot!
The rest of the collection is representing the story of Repunzel AFTER she chops off her hair- free, exploring the world, but still fighting with the emotions of feeling as though she's being watched, or that this new found freedom and beautiful world may get taken away from her at any minute, trapping her again, back up in her tower for years to come.
We had a blast creating this fairytale, and Lexington Michigan provided us with the PERFECT scenery- the old brick, vines, and cool fencing. It was a perfect mix of the old world look in and new day and age.

If you love the idea of old fairy tales take a look at this Snow White Inspired Session!
This portfolio shoot for a model shot in the middle of the woods also has a hauntingly gorgeous fairy tale feel!
Every once in awhile I get to stray away from regular sessions and shoot products for an arborist supply company- Bartlett (from Marlette, Michigan.)
There's something so fun and different about shooting commercial products.
And sometimes I get to pair those products with a stunning male model (ok, he's my hubby, so I'm partial.)
Ever since we moved to Burtchville, I've been able to do a lot of shooting right in our yard. From the tiny neighborhood in Fort Gratiot, where we use to live, I'm still kind of in shock I can produce images just like these in my own backyard.
Take a peek. If you're in to tree work or just like climbing around- when their new catalog comes out, you will probably see these floating about! :D And yes, I always get super excited to see my work in print, especially in a catalog that gets shipped to other countries- it never gets old!!
As a photographer, I watch the weather like a hawk on session days.
The other day- the weather man played a dirty trick on me, not letting me know about the rain that came, then scheduling rain later in the day, for it to turn around and be sunny again. I had to reschedule my session, so this is what I did with my time instead.
